The Everest Ultimate Trek is one of the most popular and adventurous trekking routes in the Everest region. This trek provides you with an unforgettable experience.
The trek starts with a magnificent flight over the valleys and mountains of the Himaylas to Lukla. It then follows the Dudh Kosi valley to Namche Bazaar. The trail to Gokyo is a gradual ascent up the valley and passes through patches of birch and rhododendron forests where the elusive musk deer can sometimes be seen. You'll hike through small yak-grazing settlements on your way to the Gokyo lake area where you'll then climb the Gokyo Peak and enjoy stunning mountain scenery including Everest, Makalu and Cho Oyo. A highlight of this trek is the Cho La Pass at 17,388 feet. Once you cross the Cho La pass you'll reach Dzongla.
The views of Ama Dablam and Taweche are spectacular. After the Zhongla ascent, you'll continue towards Gorak Shep and climb to Kala Pattar (18,450 feet), where you'll enjoy an impressive up-close view of Everest. You will pass numerous Buddist monuments, prayer flags and prayer rocks. Your return route passes through Tengboche, a magnificent location with a fascinating monastery. Here you can rest and savor the incredible scenery which includes the magnificent views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Kantega, Kwangde, Nuptse, Lhotse and many more trekking peaks of the Khumbu region.

Reserving a Trip
We make preparing for your trip easy! Our area managers are here to help—from choosing the right trip and checking availability to reserving your place to stay. Our office manager will normally be your single point of contact. They will oversee all of your arrangements, answer any questions that you may have, and help you prepare for the adventure of a lifetime.
Choosing Your Trip
We suggest that you read the trip information to choose the right adventure for your ability level and interest. Trip information is available for on each page or can be sent to you via fax, email or mail. Our office manager can answer any questions you might have and they would be happy to refer you to someone who has traveled with us before for a reference.
Reserving Your Place
Early reservations are recommended since group sizes are limited and airlines often sell out of their best fares many months in advance. Once you have submitted your reservation request with us, one of our travel consultants will contact you the following business day to confirm your arrangements and will charge the initial deposit to your major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express). You can then download a trip application (in PDF format) and send it to us by mail with two recent passport photos. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 303-507-2530. Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM Mountain Time.
Upon receiving your deposit, we will send you a confirmation letter, a detailed trip itinerary, visa information (if required), a travel insurance application and a pre-departure information booklet with a recommended equipment list, suggested reading list and general information needed to prepare for your trip. Our experienced staff is happy to assist you in your preparation for your adventure with us.

1. Buy your boots early and start hiking and training in them. I can't stress the importance of this enough. You want
to have your boots broken in weeks or months before your trek. Go to a reputable good gear shop
where they can help fit you for the ideal, high-quality boot and then start wearing them everywhere!
Trust me, you don't want to suffer blisters on the trek because you skimped on boot preparation.
Wear them around the kitchen, to work and then to train in.
*Buy your boots early and start hiking and training in them.
2. When you trek in Nepal, there are going to be hills and steps to climb (no surprises there), so make sure your training isn't all on flat ground. Find trails with steep sections and/or steps to climb. If you don't have any steep trails near home, jump on a stair-master at the gym. (Wear your boots) You may have 4, 5, 6 or more hour days so, you will benefit by gradually working up to longer days in those boots and with a pack. A long 3-4 hour hike, once a week starting 2 months before the Trek should give you a good base of fitness so that you will enjoy each day of trekking. (For the October Trek, start in August. For the March Trek, start in January)

3. Any type of cardiovascular conditioning is good training for Everest Base Camp. Your days will be spent walking rolling hills with a small pack. Some days will have tough up-hills so the more training the better. Up-hills at higher elevation will inherently feel more exhausting. Shortness of breath at altitude is the toughest thing to train for. The key will be taking it slow. Running, rowing, cycling, and walking up-hills are all a great way to build your endurance. Mix it up and choose the exercise you enjoy the most. Progression is important so start out easy and work up to 3-4 times a week of 30-45 minutes of moderately strenuous cardiovascular workouts.

4. Strength Training is always beneficial and having strong legs and back will make the hiking and carrying your pack easier. A 30 minute total body workout 2x per/week is sufficient with maybe a little more focus on your legs and back. You could add this on the same days as your cardio or you could do it separately, depending on time. There are lots of options for a good strength workout but here are a few basic exercises that would work well for the Trek. 1-2 sets of 12-15 reps.

Sunglasses 100% UV (glacier type that wrap around and give more protection to the eyes)

A large expedition bag will be provided by SMA upon arrival in Nepal. You can use your own expedition bag or luggage to carry your items over there, then borrow the SMA expedition bag.

One of the most important items you will have for trekking is….Your BOOTS! The best boots for this trip are quality, light to medium-weight hiking boots that are waterproof. Go to a reputable gear shop and help get fitted for the ideal boot. You will be in them most of the day so get the right ones that fit you! (Scarpa, Lowa, LaSportiva, Salewa, Merrell, Asolo, Vasque are the best brands)
New boots MUST be broken in prior to coming to the trip. Breaking in a new pair of boots can involve several weeks so make sure you do it early and well before you arrive in Nepal!
Light to medium weight hiking boots that are waterproof!
Sport sandals (such as Tevas or Chacos, Crocs) or lightweight running shoes for at camp (using bathroom at night, chilling in teahouse) Sport sandals, such as Tevas, Crocks, or Chacos, work very well for this and can be used for stream crossings in the backcountry. Running shoes also work well but do not dry as quickly. Thick wool socks (3 pairs)

NOTICES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This document and the terms and conditions contained in this document (collectively, the "Agreement") explain what you are legally entitled to expect from us when you purchase travel related services through us and your obligations as a customer. The terms "we," "us," and, "our" mean Sherpa Mountain Adventures.
The term "you" means a prospective customer or, the customer visiting our website, booking a reservation through us or otherwise agreeing to purchase our services. The term “Supplier” means third party providers of services in connection with the trip.
Deposits and Payment
Required deposits are non-refundable. Payment of a deposit enables us to hold a reservation for you but does not guarantee the price. The price can only be determined and guaranteed once we receive full payment from you and the necessary travel documents have been issued, subject to any terms and conditions of the Supplier. We will notify you in writing of the date that full payment is required from you. Upon your provision of your payment information, you are authorizing us to, in turn, make the necessary payment arrangements on your behalf with the corresponding Supplier(s).
Even though full payment of your reservation has been processed, the terms and conditions of the contract with your Supplier may allow the Supplier to increase the cost of your arrangements. If we are acting as your Booking Agent, we will promptly notify you of any such increase as soon as we become aware of such increase. If we have arranged a package, changes in transportation costs including the cost of fuel, taxes, fees and exchange rates mean that the price of your travel arrangements may also change after you have paid your reservation in full.
To process a reservation for space on a trip, please complete the enclosed application and return the completed application along with your non-refundable deposit of USD $1000 per person.
The balance of the reservation fee is due 120 days prior to departure. Applications received within 120 days of departure must include full payment of the reservation. Major credit cards, certified or cashiers’ check or bank transfer are accepted forms of payment.
Personal checks are not accepted forms of payment.
If you find it necessary to cancel your reservation, you must submit written cancellation request with Sherpa Mountain Adventures. There will be a cancellation charge, regardless of the reason for your cancellation, as following:
USD $1000 (nonrefundable deposit)
60-120 days 50% will be forfeited.
59 days 100% will be forfeited.
Our practice is to send documents to our customers electronically whenever possible. Should you desire to receive documents in paper form, we reserve the right to charge an administrative fee to handle your request.
Cancellations and Changes
Your contract with your Supplier(s) may allow the Supplier(s) to cancel or modify your reservations. If we are your Booking Agent, we will ensure that you are promptly notified of any significant changes once we are notified of such change, but we accept no liability for any changes or costs associated with such changes. Subject to the Supplier’s terms and conditions, you will then have the choice of accepting the change of arrangements, accepting an offer of alternative travel arrangements if made available by the Supplier, or cancelling your booked arrangements and receiving any applicable refunds. We do not guaranty that any refunds will apply.
If you have booked a flight and we are alerted to a significant schedule change by your airline before you leave the United States, we will contact you by email to advise you of this. Please ensure that you have given your contact email address to us and that you regularly check for messages before you leave. We have no control over airline schedule changes and accept no liability for costs which may arise as a result of such changes. After you have left the US, it is your responsibility to check with the airline that any onward flights you have confirmed are operating as booked. We strongly recommend that you contact your airline at least 72 hours before the scheduled departure of each flight to confirm flight details. Please note that some airlines require passengers to confirm your intention to travel on the flight as booked.
Sherpa Mountain Adventures, reserves the right to cancel any trip prior to departure for any reason whatever, including insufficient reservations or logistical problems which, in our reasonable determination, will impede trip operation. In the event Sherpa Mountain Adventures cancels the trip, it will refund all payments received and shall be released from any and all liability. Sherpa Mountain Adventures is not responsible for non –recoverable expenses incurred by trip members in preparing for a canceled trip, such a non-refundable advance purchase air reservations, visa, equipment, etc. or for any necessary additional arrangements should the applicant have embarked prior to the group departure date.
If You Change Your Booking
Where a change requested by you to your travel arrangements is permitted and possible, our standard service fees will apply in addition to any additional Supplier charges. Please note that all reservation changes are subject to availability and any applicable terms and conditions.
Changes to name details are not allowed by many airlines and other Suppliers. While we will endeavour make such a change if necessary, please bear in mind that most airlines and Suppliers treat a name change as a cancellation, subject to applicable terms and conditions including any applicable cancellation and/or change fees.
Flights must be taken in the sequence they appear on your ticket or e-ticket confirmation. If you plan not to take a flight as booked, please contact the airline as far in advance as possible to discuss your options. If you do not check in on time for a confirmed reservation, the airline may register you as a “no-show,” which could result in extra charges and/or your whole flight itinerary being cancelled and/or render your ticket void.
If You Cancel Your Booking
If you cancel your arrangements, you may be entitled to a partial refund as detailed herein. In addition to the cancellation terms and conditions of your Supplier(s), our standard fees will apply as set forth on your receipt or booking confirmation. We need to receive from you your original voucher before any applicable refund will be considered. If you decide to cancel arrangements before the balance due date, any deposits paid are non-refundable.
Refunds will only be made once we have received the funds from the Supplier(s). Generally flight tickets cannot be refunded if they are partially used. We are not responsible for a Supplier’s failure to pay a refund.
NOTE: If you have purchased travel insurance (recommended) your travel insurance policy may cover any cancellation charges.
Important Notice Regarding Airline Reservations
If you arrive at an airline ticket or passenger check-in counter with your confirmed ticket and find that the airline shows no reservation for you – do not leave the counter. Check your ticket. If the status box shows "OK" for the flight in question, the airline policies typically require them to accommodate you on that flight, or if that is not possible, they must either find you a substitute flight or pay you denied boarding compensation. If necessary, ask to speak to a supervisor.
Travel Documents and Destinations
It is your responsibility to ensure that all of the details on your travel documents are current and correct and to immediately bring to our attention any errors or discrepancies. Your travel documents are valuable and should be safeguarded as if they were cash. It is not always possible to replace travel documents in the case of loss, theft, damage, etc.
Prior to booking international travel, we recommend that you review any U.S. Government’s prohibitions, warnings and advisories applicable to your destinations. By offering travel to any particular destination, we do not represent or warrant that travel in such destination is safe or without risk.
You further agree that in connection with your activities, you will not permit the use of our services or website by anyone that resides or is staying in a country for which such use is prohibited under U.S. regulations.
Passport, Visa and Immigration Requirements
It is your responsibility to fulfil the passport, visa and other immigration requirements applicable to your itinerary. You should contact the relevant embassies and/or consulates to confirm what responsibilities you may have. We do not accept any responsibility in the event you are unable to travel due to your failure to comply with any such requirements.
If you are traveling on a special student/youth/teacher ticket, in addition to those items above, you are required to carry a valid International Student I.D., International Youth I.D. or an International Teacher I.D. card. It is your responsibility to verify what documents or identifications will be required of you for your journey.
Travel insurance is a vital part of your arrangements. While we strongly recommend that you have taken out adequate insurance for the duration of your journey, you should consider it essential to your journey. Travel insurance may be a mandatory element of some travel arrangements.
Travel Advice and Vaccinations
U.S. Citizens should refer to the travel advice posted by the U.S. Department of State at travel.state.gov for all the countries you intend to visit. Vaccinations may be required for some or all of the places you are intending to visit. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have arranged all necessary vaccinations for your itinerary.
Airline use of Insecticide Spray
Some countries require insecticide spraying of aircraft prior to a flight or while you are on the aircraft. Federal law requires that we refer you to the Department of Transportation’s Disinsection Information page on their website at the time of booking for further information. http://www.dot.gov/office-policy/aviation-policy/aircraft-disinsection-requirements
Hazardous Materials Disclosure
Federal law forbids carrying hazardous materials aboard aircraft in your luggage or on your person. A violation can result in five years' imprisonment and penalties of $250,000 or more (49 U.S.C. 5124). Hazardous materials include explosives, compressed gases, flammable liquids and solids, oxidizers, poisons, corrosives and radioactive materials. Examples: paints, lighter fluid, fireworks, tear gases, oxygen bottles and radio-pharmaceuticals.
There are special exceptions for small quantities (up to 70 ounces total) of medicinal and toilet articles carried in your luggage and certain smoking materials carried on your person. ASSUMPTION OF ALL RISKS:
I, __________________________________, hereby acknowledge that I am aware that during the trip or vacation in which I am participating by and through arrangements made by Sherpa Mountain Adventures, its agents and associates, that certain risks and dangers exists and may arise, including, but not limited to: the hazard of traveling in mountainous terrain, high altitude, the force of nature, civil unrest , terrorism, travel by airplane, boat, automobile, raft, bus, train, horse, elephant or other means of conveyance, and accident or illness in remote regions without means of rapid evacuation or availability of medical supplies and facilities. I acknowledge that the enjoyment and excitement of adventure travel is derived in part from the inherent risk incurred by travel and activity beyond the accepted safety of life at home or work and that these inherent risks contribute to such to enjoyment and excitement, being a reason for my participation.
I hereby acknowledge that at various times during my journey a tour /trek guide will be directing and guiding activities. I understand that such tour/trek guide deserves all due respect and authority during my tours. I understand that if I commit any illegal or dishonest act or behave in a manner inconsistent with cultural and societal norms in any relevant locale, I may be compelled to leave the tour. I understand that I will not be entitled to a refund from Sherpa Mountain Adventures and or any supplier in such case. RELEASE OF LIABILITY
Sherpa Mountain Adventures shall not be liable for (a) expenses such as additional hotel nights and meals not specified in the individual trip itineraries, but which may be required to get to or from a trip start or end; (b) expenses due to the delay of a trip for any reason (e.g. bad weather, trail conditions, landslides, flooding, sickness, or other contingency for which Sherpa Mountain Adventures cannot make provisions; (c) expenses incurred in recovering luggage lost by airlines, belongings left behind on a trip, belongings lost due to theft, or in shipping purchases or other goods home from abroad; (d) bodily injury, death or property damage for any reason, including but not limited to acts of God, weather, quarantines, strikes, civil disturbance, theft, default, changes in government regulations, terrorism, war, or failure of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled, etc., over which Sherpa Mountain Adventures has no control. The right is reserved to substitute both trip leaders and hotels from those listed in the catalog, as well as reverse the order of places to be visited and make reasonable changes in the itinerary where deemed advisable or necessary for the comfort and wellbeing of the passengers.
MEDICAL & HEALTH:
It is vital that any person with medical problems or issues make them known to us at the time of booking and as they arise. It is critical that you are excellent physical condition while you are on your trip. The trip leader/guide has right to disqualify anyone at any time during the trip if they feels the you are incapable of safely completing the trip, or they feel your continued participation may jeopardize safety of others. Refunds are not given under such circumstances.
Accommodations are based on double occupancy for both hotel and lodges unless you request single accommodations, those accommodations are available and you pay a supplement cost.
Covered costs include: all accommodations, all meals and breakfast on trek except dinner and Lunch in Kathmandu. Guide, porter, driver, all transfers group transportation, permits and entrance fees.
Covered costs DO NOT include: international airfare, passports, visas, immunization, insurance of any kind, medical costs of evacuation from remote areas, alcoholic beverages, laundry, excess baggage charges, expenses arising from the delay or extension of trip due to weather, political disputes, illness, failure of transportation or other cause beyond our reasonable control, tips to guides and staff.
Please read carefully. Payment of deposit represents an acceptance by trip member of the following terms and conditions:
Sherpa Mountain Adventures gives notice that services provided in connection with its itineraries, including transportation, hotel accommodations, restaurants, and other services, are purchased from various independent suppliers who are not affiliated with Sherpa Mountain Adventures in any way. Although we endeavor to choose the best suppliers available, Sherpa Mountain adventures has no right to control their operations and therefore makes these travel arrangements upon the express condition that Sherpa Mountain Adventures and its own agents and employees, shall not be liable for any delay, mishap, inconvenience, expense, irregularity, bodily injury or death to person, or damage to property occasioned through the conduct or default of any company or individual engaged in providing these services. Each of these passenger conveyance companies, tour companies, hotels, etc., is subject to the laws of the state or country where the service is provided.
All baggage and personal belongings are at all times your responsibility, even when carried or handled by others. We are not responsible for any loss, damage or accident to any luggage and property, however incurred. It is in the nature of the holiday of this kind that arrangements and participants have to be flexible. The day-to-day agenda and ultimate goal of the trips are estimates and goals, and are not guaranteed or contractual obligations. It is a necessary condition of your acceptance of this Agreement and by participation in our trek that you accept this flexibility, and that you also acknowledge and accept that we are not responsible for delays or alterations in the itinerary, or for expenses incurred owing to international or internal flight cancellation, strikes, local regulations, sickness, weather, war, quarantine closures and disputes. You will be responsible for such expenses incurred, which, depending on the circumstances may be recoverable on your insurance.
You are solely responsible for selecting a trip appropriate to your abilities and interest. In order to assist you we are happy to discuss the details and demands of any trip. As explained herein, you are responsible for being in sufficiently good health to undertake the trip.
You are required to and responsible for preparing for the trip by studying the itinerary and pre-departure information sent by Sherpa Mountain Adventures, and for bringing the appropriate and equipment as advised therein.
We are acting as an independent contractor and no joint venture, partnership or employment relationship exists between you and us or our Suppliers as a result of this Agreement or your use of our website.
We reserve the right at any time to modify this Agreement without prior notice to you. You may not assign your rights or obligations under this Agreement to any third party. We may terminate this Agreement at any time for any reason, and such termination shall not affect any right to relief to which we are entitled at law or in equity.
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Colorado without regard to its conflicts of laws principles. If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the enforceability of the remaining provisions will not in any way be affected or impaired.
ACKWOLEDGMENT OF ARBITRATION
I understand that my/our agreement with Sherpa Mountain Adventures contains an agreement to arbitrate. After signing this document, I understand that I will not be able to bring a lawsuit concerning any dispute that may arise which is covered by the arbitration agreement, unless it involves a question of constitutional or civil rights. Instead, I agree to submit any such dispute to an impartial arbitrator.
I have carefully read and do agree to all the conditions as stated in this agreement, especially noting that I have read, understand and accept the cancellation and refund policy.
